The reading passage asserts that chimpanzees have the ability to communicate and wide range of social life; however, the lecturer totally refutes the passage, by stating that they are not able to utilize and develop human language.
First of all, the lecturer argues that the chimpanzees cannot commonly procure language. The reading passage explains that they certainly employ language to convey their emotions and covets. In opposition to this hypothesis, the lecturer indicates that the language used by the chimpanzees do not contain any complexity as human languages, making their language more like animal language.
Next, the lecturer claims that the chimpanzees gain the ability to communicate by just copying what humans speak. The reading passage explains that they can interact with others in delicate manners. On the contrary, the lecturer uses an example that shows that the chimpanzees can understand the language given that they are told with heavy chimpanzee accent. Also, they do not possess any physical features to pronounce vowels.
Finally, the lecturer does not agree with the reading passage that the chimpanzees presented their capability to produce language categories by using sign language. However, the lecturer points out that they hardly have any understanding of grammar. Scientists indicated that the chimpanzees did not have knowledge about how the words are put together and the American sign language that was used to teach them was not successful to impart them grammar skills.
