Everyone has a different standard of determining success. Some people might say that individuals who possess a huge sum of money are successful. However, I believe that in order to be successful, one does not have to become rich. Instead, i believe if one feels accomplished about his or her work, then he or she is successful. Furthermore, there are small but significant successes in daily life.
To begin with, there is a number of unwealthy people who are considered successful by numerous people. For example, Gandhi, he led the independence movement in India, and the movement was a triumph. Thanks to Gandhi, India attained freedom from The United Kingdom. Therefore, many people still appreciate Gandhi's great achievement. Thus, he is successful in his way that even after his death, he is still remembered as a hero to Indians. Being positively remembered in people's mind could be a success.
Furthermore, there are other tiny successes in everyday life besides earning a huge amount of money. Feeling gratified could be the most important success in people's lives. Some people could find their satisfaction from helping others. For example, volunteer workers. About a month ago, I watched a Television program that interviewed several volunteer workers. They stated that they feel rewarded and successful when helping other people ,in particular, people who suffer from severe diseases. Some viewers might have thought that they were making comments that are appropriate for TV, but I could truly see their heart and they looked like the most successful individuals in the world on my standard of success.
A substantial number of people set their goals to earn much money, and I used to be one of those. However, I have realized that feeling happy in my life is the most important goal to achieve. Therefore, I disagree that all rich people are successful. Therefore, people who can smile and laugh anytime are the most thriving individuals regardless of their wealth. |
