In the bookstores, we are able to find out people finding history books amongst various books. Namely, many of us try to figure out answers to problems from the previous experience even though those problems have relation with present. Some people argue that we are supposed to go forward without looking back. However, I disagree that learning about the past has no value in terms of diverse wisdoms from the past and helping us construct the future in advance.
First and foremost, learning about the past gives us a myriad of wisdoms and usefulness. A well-known historian said “ history is being repeated “, which means we are able to face into situations already happened in the past. The past has an effect on tremendous advisor for those in trouble currently. For instance, I had a difficulty before on keeping fresh foods but my mom advised to me regarding restoring on the basis of her own experience in the past. It seems like a tiny thing but mom’s past experience was greatly helpful to me.
Secondly, setting up plans and preparing in advance are also affected by the past experience. Basically, people should prepare in advance in order to avoid fatal errors or mistakes. However, we can’t predict and foresee all the situations to be happened so lending wisdoms from the past would be marvelous to build up. For example, I used to plan vacation right before beginning of vacation. From time to time, it was pretty hard for me to determine the most decent plan since I didn’t have enough information and experience regarding life in vacation. But, as time goes by, I could end up planning successfully based on my accumulated knowledge that I already went through in the past.
All in all, learning concerning the past does more good than harms. Learning about the ancestors’ wisdom is a virtue in that which we are able to use it for go through the present as well as construct future. |
