Amid energy problems emerging as the hottest topic all over the world, government and non-governmental organization have been contemplating about effective solutions to the problem. One of the methods of the government is increasing the prices of limited energy resources such as gasoline and electricity. Concerning this method, there are a lot of controversies about its effectiveness . Although some people cast skeptism on the policy, I believe the policy is effective enough to dwindle the amount of energy used.
First of all, rising the prices of the energy resource can influence people's behavior because it is related to financial concern. This is due to the fact that money is one of the most important aspects of life for most people. Because people need to buy some necessary things and pay some bills, they cannot help to heavily rely on the money. Therefore, if the cost of energy used rises, people soon make effort to contract the cost, as a result they begin to reduce the amount of energy used. For example, my parents make effort to reduce amount of energy used every day because it is directly related to bill they have to pay every month. My father always check weather light was turned off or not before he goes to bed. Without the relationship with the money, they would not have been able to put so much emphasis on saving energy.
Last but not least, savign the resource of energy is the most economical way of conserving energy rather than creating other method to generate energy. the old saying goes " A panny saved is a panny earned"' and the same goes to the energy. Generating new energy is more tough and requires more effort than just retaining energy without wasting it. Moreover, it would be more economical because people do not have to put money and effort to find other sources. Not only that but, by showing the government is paying attention to the environmental issue and resource depletion problem through the policy, the government is able to save much promotion fee. |
