Question : The decisions that people make quickly are always wrong
I don’t agree the statement, which says that the decision that is made quickly is always wrong. There are two main reasons to support my idea.
Firstly, in some fields, decisions must be made in a short time. So, if someone says that decisions made quickly are always bad, it means that all decisions made in that areas are always wrong. And this is so unreasonable. Nowadays, society is full of quick services. And consumers’ tastes change so fast. So the departments of marketing and producing always require people of those fields to make decisions very quickly. In that way, they can catch consumers’ interest quickly than their rivals and it can make a success in market. For example, if there is a clue in a fashion world that rain boots are going to be ‘must-have item’ for many young people, then many designers and fashion companies are going to make rain boots in a various of style very quickly. In this way, they can let their items faster than other designers and companies to the customers who are interested in it and willing to buy it. So in this world, speed is the key of success. So I disagree that the decisions that is made in a short time are always wrong.
Secondly, I think there are also some wrong decisions that are made too slowly. If someone or some groups continues thinking about the problem and not making solutions, there are some chances for them to make decisions in a very wrong way. Because they thought too much about the matter, including things that aren’t related to it, so they fail to make a right decision that is directly linked to the matter. In my experience, when I was taking a test, the answer that I checked suddenly looks wrong when I was continuously thinking about the question, so I changed it for another one. However, the right answer was the one that I made at first. I did this kind of mistakes a lot. So I thought by myself what the reason for those mistakes is and I concluded that if I think too much about something, I became likely to look it in other views so I change the decision I made first. So I think in some cases, decisions made slowly can be wrong not just those made quickly.
From these two reasons, I cast doubt on the argument which insists decisions made quickly are always wrong. In addition to that, I don’t think the key factor that decides the successfulness of a decision is speed of decision-making. Instead, I think the ability of person’s decision-making is the most significant key for the success of desions.
