As the tendency of homeworking becomes more and more generalized, growing number of people now prefer to work alone in their own house. At the time, working in group is often considered as a bothering process at worst. However, working with other people is more efficient than working alone in that it allows people to get immediate help from others and make problem solving much faster.
To start with, when working in people, workers can benefit from the help of their coworkers. When they are faced with a situation not easy to handle, they can ask the people around them to look at. More importantly, they can get precious advises from more experienced worker in their workplace. From my personal experience, when I started my carrier in an advertising company, I made plenty of minor and major mistakes. Each time, a coworker in my department who had worked in the area for more than 5 years guided me by giving useful information about my project or counseling me when I had hardships. Thanks to his help, my carrier turned its way to success and I got promoted only in 3 years.
Secondly, working with others makes it efficient to solve problems. There is an old saying “Two heads are better than one.” This indicates more people will find out more various solutions to a problem. One member of the team could think of an idea that another worker might not have come up with. Not only when the company is in serious financial problem, but when it is preparing an important project, will company call for more heads to share their thoughts. To give an example, my cousin was working as a private lawyer when he was asked to solve a law case. The case was covering a field that he had little knowledge of, which made him spend ages to figure out the situation. If he were in a law firm, he would have been able to manage the case in much less time.
To sum up, it’s evident that benefits of working with other people far outweigh the benefits of working individually. The rationales behind this are that coworkers can cooperate with the worker’s task and make it faster to search the solutions. |
