While the author of the reading passage argues that telework will be benificial by giving people oppertunities and efficiency in their career, the lecturer opposes the reading's assertion with several counter views.
First of all, according to the reading, telecommunication can provide jobs to those who have difficulties in commuting, such as women or disabilities. On the contrary, the lecturer mentions that this oppertunity would be applied only for jobs requiring professional knowledge. the speaker also states that people who are not educated well will not have any chances of getting telework.
Additionally, the reading passage then points out that it will reduce air polution because of decrease in fuel use for commuting. The professor, however, counters by stating that it cannot play a significant role in a company because people have to come to their office for a meeting. He adds that it is commonly regarded that facing each other is much beneficial than facing through computers.
Finally, the author of the reading claims that people can have more free time by teleworking because of reduction time of commuting. On the other hand, the speaker insists that although it might give them some free time, since seperation between working hours and free time would disappear, people will be suffer from more stress than before. According to him, this would lead people to have more tension. |
