The issue here is whether television has destroyed communication among friends and family or it has nothing to do with the communation. Although many people may agree that television has destroyed communication, I disagree with the statement above and my view can be greatly substantiated by the reason addressed below.
First of all, television brought many topics to talk about among friends. In other words, through television, we have more things to talk with them and our relationship got much better than before. Many of us watch news through television about what is going on the earth and especially girls are interested on celebrities gossips and their lifestyles. When time comes to meet my friends, we usally talk about what is going on the earth or in the celebrities world. This is how we release our stress out and this is how we share our friendship.
Secondly, television brought time to be with family. To put it again, nowadays it is difficult to join every family members together and have a dinner together. My dad might have to eat with his co-workers and my mom and I usually eat with friends in outside. Thus, everyone arrives home differently. However, around ten o'clock, we all come out to the living room and watch drama together. That time is the only time a day that each family member gather together. Through watching drama or entertainment show together, the gap between my parents' generation and our generation would reduce by understanding each other and sharing time.
Some might argue that television has destroyed communication among friends and family because people might spend much time on watching television instead of meeting with friends and talking with family. Of course, to be addicted to the television is unhealthy physically and mentally. However, I believe that watching television in moderation would improve the relationship among friends and family.
