Some people say environmental development is less important than economical development. However, I strongly agree with the idea of focusing on environmental development is a wise decision. First, we are facing with environmental problems which are seriously affecting to our lives. Second, economical development can be achieved by developing environment.
First of all, environmental problems are threatening people’s lives. One of the biggest challenges that we are facing nowadays is global warming, which is caused by carbon emissions from cars and plants. So far, mankind has been preoccupied with economic development. Although industrialization elevated people’s life, we do need to consider side effects from now on. Increasing number of cars on the roads and other use of fossil fuels are mainly attributable to emissions of carbon dioxide. Subsequently, carbon emissions gave rise to devastating climate changes such as melting iceberg, floods, frequent droughts, and unusual heavy snow fall. Experts have warned that if human beings do not reduce carbon dioxide drastically, more serious consequences will occur. These natural disasters lead not only to enormous economic losses but also to massive health risks. In this sense, economic development means nothing if it damages environment.
Secondly, well developed environments contribute economically. Some people might think that environmental development is nothing to do with economical achievement. However, many cases approved that these two aspects are closely related. Region around Gangnam Station can be one of the examples. Gangnam Station is a huge transition center surrounded by full of business offices. Needless to say, this region used to very crowd with people commuting. Because a lot of buses, cars and cabs are entangled in the area, people had to spend time and money on the road. Imagine that if we can solve this terrible traffic jam, which happens on a daily basis, how much wasted money can we save per year? In this point, government took an action to this problem. They reorganized circulations and moved bus stops to the middle of the road so that they can prevent cars from lining up along the road. This environmental developing project not only enabled people to save a lot of money, but also attributed to alleviate air pollutions. In fact, government’s these achievements are highly praised in that they saved countless money by improving environments.
In conclusion, I agree with the idea that government should focus more on the environment than on economic development that I have mentioned above. First, environmental problems are threatening people’s lives. Second, well developed environments contribute economically. |
