As far as I can remember, some people strongly argue that being a leader is too risky because the leader should be responsible for the consequence when it is negative. However, after some reflection I wholeheartedly believe that being a leader has more advantages than a follower regardless of the ramification. Two main reasons are as follows; being a leader make the one learn how to manage the team effectively and raise the sense of responsibility as a leader.
To begin with, a leader gets to acquire various abilities by leading the team generally. A leader tries to make the team success, and during the process, the leader learns how to deal with some conflicts among team members, balance extreme opinions, control some problems and so on. To illustrate this point, I became a leader in a project for the first time. Until that time, I was close to a follower and didn’t know what to do as a leader even from where I should start. As team project was in progress, I got to know valuable know-how and some skills such as distributing some tasks to teammates equally and encouraging those who were sluggish. At the end, I felt that I led my team to succeed as a leader, and I cannot forget the moment I felt fruitful. Likewise, being a leader is noteworthy to learn a variety of competence.
The second reason why being a leader is better is that it helps to have a responsibility rather than as a follower. As I mentioned earlier, a leader should have a responsible for the results no matter what happens. A leader could be in the spotlight but feel in a guilty when the consequence is not good. Therefore, a leader gets more responsible and tries to take an action when something happens by doing one’s best. One person who illustrates this idea is my sister. She didn’t like to try anything and was likely to be passive, so she did only what others ask. When she was elected as a leader of a club, she was totally changed. She tried everything she could do at hand to lead her club. She further stated that even though she had a burden and abundant things to do, she liked the position because that made her have a bunch of responsibilities. Thus, I strongly support that a leader is advantageous in terms of a responsibility.
To sum up, I utterly believe that being a leader is very valuable because it helps to procure how to handle various troubles and priceless skills as well as get to be responsible far more. From my perspective, it is a good chance for everyone to be a leader when it comes experiencing something precious as a leader. |
