While the reading passage presents three problems of recruiting young doctors to rural areas, the speaker claims that these problems can be solved by corresponding solutions.
The reading passage indicates that young doctors in the countryside do not have many advantages or get paid much compared to the doctors in the city because they do not get paid as much as the doctors in the city. However the speaker says that this argument is somewhat shortsighted. The speaker claims that this problem can be solved by offering them financial benefits. As a result, even though they make less money than the city, they could save a lot of money on from the low cost of living. According to the lecturer, then, the evidence presented in the reading passage does not hold any water.
The reading passage also purports that they are less likely to get experiences or get advice advices from experts than the urban doctors when considering the atmosphere of rural areas. This might be true in some aspects, but the speaker suggests that they could get information very easily through the web in that we are living in the high-technique world. Accordingly, the second assertion presented in the reading passage also does not sound plausible. OR Accordingly, the speaker also casts doubt on the second point of the reading passage.
Finally, the reading passage points out that ‘living in the city’ sounds appealing to young doctors because the rural life is very boring. They need to clear their head by enjoying the nightlife and experiencing new cultures which hardly exist happen in the countryside. However, the lecturer maintains that some people really like quiet and peaceful life in rural areas. Plus, he believes that government could persuade and encourage young doctors to work in rural areas by giving them advantages such as deducting tax. Therefore, it is not proper to say that the last piece of evidence in support of difficulties in attracting fresh doctors to rural areas is substantiated.
