Traditionally, most Koreans thought that people who want make large amounts of money are not desirable. Because of Confucianism, most Koreans have not been taught about making money. In result, rich people were thought as same as greedy people. However, these days, those bias are changed. Many Koreans want to be richer, want make more money. Hence there is a lot of information about making money. On the other hand, some people still think that it is enough to earn a comfortable living. They say if we have too much money, it makes us unhappy. Although two opinions make sense, I think second one is better than first one.
Firstly, even though people have enough money they will want more and more money. There are no limits to human’s greed. They cannot satisfy with their state. For example, last summer vacation I worked part time. And I earned money enough to keep my everyday life. But I wanted more money than I needed. Hence I looked for the other job and I worked more. Because I had to work, I could not meet my friends, could not go movie and had no time to take a rest. The end of the summer vacation there was nothing except money. There was no memory and no enjoyment of my life. I realized there is more than money.
In addition, more money cannot guarantee more happiness. Many people believe that if they have a lot of money they will be happier. But some study results of happiness say that much money does not mean much happier. Many people think that the happiest country is the richest country like USA. According to a study, surprisingly, the happiest country in the world is Bangladesh. Bangladesh is one of very poor countries. But most people in that country think they are happy. Through this result, we can know that happiness is not determined by money.
In conclusion, if we make money as much as we need, we can happy. It is just up to you. Each of us has own criterion. Just satisfy with your own state. If you do not satisfy with your state, you want more money and you feel unhappy. But if you make a lot of money, it does not mean your happy. |
