Advertisements may be the most important part of companies who are selling products because they inform customers about their products and usually entice customers to purchase their products, which is aiding to companies. However, advertisements may not beneficial for the buyer, in other words, they may be attracted to purchase unnecessary products. Companies often solely care about their profits not customer's behalf. Furthermore, many new products are new versions of products that are already satisfactory.
Many advertisements might exaggerate a product’s advantage to allure more customers to purchase the product even unnecessary items in order to maximize a company's profits. In other words, selling companies merely pay attention to their profits not customers' benefits. Therefore, buyers who are enticed by advertisements expend their money on buying inessential items. To illustrate this, when I was in middle school, my skin broke out for the first time; therefore, I was concerned about my acne although I only had 2 to 3 pimples on my face. However, since I was urgent about removing pimples on my face, I bought all kinds of acne treatment whenever I watched acne commercials. I literally "ended up" buying more than 10 kinds of acne products in 2 days. However, pimples on my face were temporary, and I did not realize that. After few days, my skin totally recovered, and I was regretful to waste my money on buying acne products. If it were not for commercials, I would not have purchased any products and not wasted my money on getting unnecessary items.
Many corporations often introduce their "new" products, which are usually their old and satisfactory products with new designs. They introduce "brand-new" items as if they were remarkably improved compared to the previous ones with higher price. As a result, customers may get enticed by new products and purchase them in the belief that they will live up to their higher price. Also, it might be human nature to be more attracted by products that seem newer; therefore, buyers purchase "new" products out of their interest albeit they are not essential.
Advertisements might merely motivate customers to purchase unnecessary products because they exaggerate a product's advantage to attract people. Also, they appeal customers with new designs; as a result, people unnecessarily expend their money. I have been hurt by commercials for many times from buying products that help me lose fat to buying unnecessary acne treatment products. Therefore, I believe it is reasonable for me to develop this critical viewpoint about advertisements. |
