It is often said that all teachers have to update their knowledge every five years. Although some people agree with the statement, I firmly believe that advantages of updating knowledge of teachers are more important. There are several reasons, but two of the most important ones are as follows. First, teachers can take high-tech knowledge. Moreover, they would be able to teach students how to be familiar with the changes in society.
Most of all, teachers need to learn high-technology that recently come out. Today many scientists are making new technology such as computer software and diverse things in the electronic industry. If teachers don't know new coming new knowledge, they would give their students only old knowledge. For example, when I was in high school, we all took a computer information class. In that class we learned how to use a variety of application programs. When we were learning the program, Microsoft word 2007, the teacher didn't know where the printer option was because he could use only use the Microsoft 2003 version. After another teacher came in the class, she knew the new version of Microsoft 2007 in that she take workshop in the education department of city. Therefore, teachers must spend time for getting new knowledge every five years.
In addition, teachers getting new knowledge know how to help students learn the change of society. This society is changing and it is mandatory that teachers surely make students flexible to take the new information and use it freely for their study and work. If there are the teachers who are updating their knowledge, they would provide their students with skills to receive the new information fast and easily. According to a study of Tokyo University in Japan in 2009, students under teachers who take an information workshop every year are more familiar with the new information of 2010 and have interests in more numerous fields including science and mathematics as well as society and business. For this reason, teachers trying to have new knowledge could introduce their own skills for taking new information to their students.
In conclusion, I strongly support that the statement that teachers should update their knowledge every five years. If they do that steadily, they would get the new information that help students in their classes. Additionally, they could let students have the skills to get more new information and to be active on with the new knowledge.
