As time goes by, the extended family has been changed to the nuclear family. These day, the nuclear family seems more important than the large family. However, in my point of view, I think that the extended family is more important than the nuclear family because the former contributes to asking for help to other member occasionally who is consist of the family and making their children mature.
To begin with, the more people are in the family, the more the people can do others' duties instead of others. In the case of the nuclear family, if the parents both have their own work, there wouldn't be the time to raise their child by hand. Extended family is much more possible to replace parents with grandparents or uncles. This is why large family is regarded essential in modern society where people are bound and driven by hectic schedules. For example, my friend who has been raised in the extended family, he had almost been raised by grandmother because his mother was a teacher. Occasionally, when there were some events in his school, his uncle visited his school instead of his mother. Therefore, in modern society where people are in a hurry, large family would be a good advantage.
Besides, being with large family can be an effective promotion for their child's emotion. In modern society, people force their children nothing but study, and they are often overwhelmed. However, by receiving love from numerous people in their family, the children tend to easily understand the others and learn how to be warm-heart person. According to a study recently released by the Korean National Research Center, the survey that is about which the children are more considerate in the large family or small family was fulfilled. The result was certainly demonstrated that the children in the extended family are more altruistic. In this sense, by being actively associated with extended family, our child can be a warm-hearted person.
In conclusion, the importance of extended family far outweighs that of nuclear family for two reasons. Family members in extended family can ask for help to other member when they are not available and helps their children be a warm-hearted person. Given this, it is quite obvious that extended family can contribute to making our family happier. |
