Almost every student wants to go to universities. But they all have different reasons for it. I believe that people attend universites for two reasons; they feel it as an obligation and want to make relationship with other people.
To begin with, a large part number of students attend college because everybody else goes. In case of Republic of Korea, since they are forced to matriculate and since their friends go, many students enter universities without any purpose. According to a study, in Korea, 95% of high school students enter college, but 55% of them fail to get a job. It means that they have not never or meagerly improved their abilities in the colleges. They have no idea why they go to universities.
In addition, some of the students matriculate at universities to make a social relationship. This is because, often in society, this kind of bonds with other people are helpful for their careers. Therefore people try to broaden social circle by attending universities. For example, one of my friends, whose name is John, successfully adjusted to society. In SNU, one of the most famous colleges in Korea, he got along with a dauther daughter of SAMSUNG's chairman, the owner of the monolithic corporation. Thus, as he graduated, he got into the company.
In conclusion, some of undergraduate students attend college because everyone goes, and the others do it to widen their social bands bonds which finally would help them in society. If you are one of students who belongs in the former group, I would strongly recommend you not to enter university or make a suitable reason cogent object for it. |
