There is a controversy about whether individuals can do nothing about the environmental problem as it is too complicated. Although many people say that individuals can change this problem, I firmly believe that individuals can do nothing about it. It is logical for two main reasons. One is that there are more people who cause this environmental problem than who try to do something about it. The other is that the human life is limited.
First, it is true that almost 70% of humans do not care about environmental problem or they care about the problem but do nothing about it. From my perspective, if 70% of humans destroy the environment and only 30% try to solve this problem, this problem will be never solved and it is only getting worse. It is sad that even I do not think individuals can do something about it, but it is so apparent that we are only making it worse. And at last, humans will destroy this planet.
Second, it is true that the human life is limited. For instance, nowadays science makes humans can live until one hundreds, it is much longer than fifteen years ago. But still, it is too short when compared to the geographic age, or the environmental age. Some people say that we could give this thought about solving the environmental problem to next generations, but this environmental problem was issued since about thirty years ago and now thirty years have passed and our technology has evolved much more than thirty years ago, and people live longer than before and many things are better than the past, but the environmental problem did not get any better and it has got even worse and humans are using more resources from earth and maybe fuel is going to run out in few years. What I am trying to say is that a person’s life is too short to solve this problem.
In conclusion, there are two main reasons why I think that individuals can do nothing about the environmental problem. It is not only because the human life is limited, it is also because that there are more people who cause this problem than the others. |
