First, the lecuturer believes that the bike lanes are not eco-friendly. Since commuting by bike is too physically demanding the percentage of people who participate in commuting by bikes is less than 1 %. Thus, making bike lanes do not contribute reducing pollution made on the road. This point shows that building bike lanes are not helpful for environment.
Second, he argues that drivers on the roads with bike lanes will be more stressful before. After making bike lanes on the main roads, very few people are joining to commute by bike and drivers already had traffic congestion before the bike lanes so cars on the roads are still same as before having bike lanes. That is why drivers are frustrated because they give their invaluable roads to very few some's bikes. Finally, He claims that bike lanes rather increase traffic accident unlike an expectation of the reading. To illustrate this, he give an example that when cars pull over on the road, bikers do not consider much, because bikes think that bike lanes are theirs,so they do not need to worry about it. Therefore, bike lanes rather make more accidents before. While saying that San Franciso get rid of the bike lanes, he concludes his opinion saying that bikes lanes are not benficial.
