▶ Your Answer : Some people think that cars have brought greater
change to society than planes have. However, in my opinion, the effect planes
have had on society surpasses that of cars. This is because airplanes have had
greater effect on economy and globalization.
To begin with, airlines have been one of
the most crucial factors in the travel industry. To be specific, almost every
travel agencies’ products include airplane tickets as a package. Traveling by airplanes
have become more common than ever, especially since the low-cost airline began
to flourish. Now, it is almost impossible to imagine a summer vacation without getting
on an airplane. According to recent statistics from the Statistics Korea (KOSTAT), one out of 3 people went abroad
on an airplane for a vacation, and only a small portion of people preferred domestic
travels over traveling abroad.
In addition, airplanes had significant
contribution to globalization. That is, airplanes made the world look smaller
since we are now able to reach any nation on earth within 24 hours. As a result,
increasing number of people are becoming aware of not only domestic news, but
also on global issues. In a study conducted by a research team in Korea
university’s international relations department, the average global awareness of
citizens in South Korea increased by 50 percent since the commercialization of traveling
by planes. This phenomenon was further supported by the statistical evidence
that showed 30 percent increase in the number of subscribers of podcasts like
BBC and CNN which deal with breaking global news.
To sum up, airplanes have demonstrated a
greater impact on the traveling industries of the world and have also paced globalization.
In this regard, I believe that airplanes have had more influence on society
than cars have. |
