As
everything in life is like a coin that has two different sides, people must
weigh the pros and cons before jumping into conclusions. After all, each and
every question requires careful deliberation in that there are always multiple
variables to the truth. Even though some may adamantly believe that celebrities
can express their political opinions publically, I strongly think that such an
opinion lacks coherence to some extent. In my humble opinion, political ideas
of celebrities should not be transmitted in public for the following reasons:
celebrities can have social influence, and be in trouble.
First
and foremost, the expressions of celebrities can enable people to be negatively
affected. It is obvious that celebrities, such as writers, singers, and
dancers, have a huge social impact. Many follow celebrities' life and thinking.
For example, when I was a group leader, I had a huge misunderstanding that led
to a fight with one of the members. She argued that the previous president was
very clean and smart. However, the president had already been arrested due to
his problems, such as taking bribes. I did not understand why she insisted it.
She said that a singer who was very famous in my country insisted that the
president was absolutely innocent on television. She believed this idea because
it was broadcasted. However, a few days later, it turned out that the singer's
argument was totally wrong. Had the celebrity not spoken to people in public,
we would have never had the argument.
On
top of this, the opinions of celebrities can be contaminated. It is commonly
observed that many media, such as newspapers, TV shows, and magazines in modern
society are trying to generate more sensational content. They can make fake
news. Celebrities' public opinions can be modified or edited by media because
these are very fascinating and interesting. For instance, when a writer who had
a lot of fans for his articles had an interview with a magazine, he said that
he did not like the recent opinion from the minister of Japan. A month later,
the interview article was published and he was shocked because the article was
totally wrong. His opinion was deliberately edited by the editors of the
magazine company. He got lots of emails and calls because his opinion was not
appropriate. In this context, it is easy to take advantage of the expressions
of celebrities in public.
In
summation, yes, it is virtually impossible to provide a completely satisfying
answer to an open-ended question. Although the jury may be out on this given
essay topic, we can come to a mutual agreement that the advantages of not
publically saying political opinions of celebrities far outweigh those of
speaking out their ideas in public for the reasons and details mentioned above.
All in all, celebrities should always be aware of potential impacts from their
political opinions in public. |
