Almost all people listen to music for some reason. To people, music is necessary for their life and they cannot imagine the world without music. From this view, there are two aspects why music is valuable to people. I will explain this by giving two examples.
To begin with, by listening to music, people can improve their concentration. In other words, they can study or work more efficiently and prominently than do when they do not listen to music. My personal experience is well indicative of this argument. Whenever I study English, I often play pop songs or jazz music. Before, I did not listen to music while I was doing something, but a situation changed me. A few years ago, I was preparing midterm exam in university. However, the problem was that I was not able to focus only on study. I watched my phone, and moved over and over again. Finally, as one of my friends recommended listening to music, I decided to listen to music which is good for increasing concentration. Especially, I played jazz music related to Christmas. After that, the time I can focus on study got longer, and now I am able to concentrate my jobs without any distraction. If I had not listened to music, I would have had some difficulties getting better efficiency of work.
On top of that, listening to music can help people alleviate depression. There are a few days when people do not want to do anything, and sleep during all the day. In this circumstance, playing music make people encourage them to do something. One of my friends, named Minsu, has a suitable example of this. A few months ago, he used to feel depression in one or two days out a week. After that, the days he was not active got longer, resulting in suffering from depression. In the end, he went see a doctor to talk about how to cope with the ailment. What doctor came up with was that he had to listen to exciting music for a few minutes. Surprisingly, taking this action healed his sufferings. Every morning, he played Michael Jackson’s songs for thirty minutes, and these sons made Minsu joyful and active. Now, he cured the depression. Without music, Minsu would have suffered from depression onwards.
Nowadays, many people try to be dependent on music to fix or improve their problems. The power of music is so powerful that it can alter the human’s feelings and behavior. From this view, I firmly believe that music is helpful for improving concentration and treated illnesses.
