102(075). Schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers. Do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support answer. At the end of a school term, I have usually evaluated my teachers. In fact, whenever I wrote about teachers’ good or bad points, it was so difficult and boring that I used to fill out the evaluating sheets without special attention and even grumble about it. But on second thought, it was a very helpful and effective method in that it makes people reflect on what they have been taught, what they had hoped to get in the class at the beginning, and what they are going to have to do in the next semester to acquire what they want; in addition teachers can recognize their week and strong points through the evaluation and can have the opportunity to improve their way of teaching. So I believe that the evaluation process is essential to schools. Teachers have been the beings of authority to students. It is not very long since people regard the idea as natural that students can also evaluate their teachers. The relationship between teachers and students become more active and students come to think more voluntarily. Answering the questions in the evaluating sheet, students have the time to think about teaching ; if teachers was not good, they may find a solution about how it could be complemented and if there were a good activities in the class, they can recommend them to their next teachers. This process reminds students that they are the subjects of learning. On the other hand, the evaluation is the most direct and effective method for teachers to get the reaction from students. Most of the teachers would like to know how their students feel like about their teaching. Some teachers try to recognize it from students’ facial expressions or try to had a one-to-one talk with their students. In spite of these efforts, students’ indifferent attitude make teachers disappointed. However, the evaluation is the easiest way in which teachers can acquire the students’ critics. Commendations and good opinions from students could encourage teachers, while complaints and bad grade might frustrate them. Even so, teachers can get useful and helpful information from it. Thus, it is through evaluations that students can confront their learning with more active and positive mind; teachers also get beneficial information to make teaching condition better. It will be an accelerator in schools.
