It
is debatable whether all university students should be required to take a least
on class that teaches the culture of a country other than their own. This is an
intriguing question because opinions concerning this issue can be different
depending on the individual perspectives. In my opinion, however, I support
that all university students should be required to take a least on class that
teaches the culture of a country other for the following reasons.
First
of all, university students should be required to take a class that teaches the
culture of a country other because taking this course broadens people’s
perspectives. To be specific, students have to know about culture of other
countries, which as a result allows people to better understand other cultures,
lifestyles, and perspectives. As modern society is becoming globalized, today’s
world requires people with international views. People can do this better by
learning other country’s cultures. To illustrate, Steve Jobs, who is the
founder of Apple, made great accomplishments in his lifetime. I read online
that he was very successful because he was global-minded and culturally
sensitive. He did this by taking the class that teaches the variety culture of
other countries.
In
addition, taking a course that teaches other culture is very important because
it would be useful when they go to other countries. To be specific, student
should learn to understand other countries’ people, which as a result helps
them deal with difficult situation in other countries such as traveling,
studying abroad. Most of students want to go to other countries but they cannot
have enough confidence. This is because they don’t know a way how to treat
foreigner and they are afraid of making a mistake. For example, when I was
university student, I was given a chance of attending a U.S. university on an
exchange student. Every situation were new to me but I was able to become
familiar in a short time because I already learned about their culture through
the course of American history in my university. If I had not known about their
culture, I could not have overcome cultural differences. Through this
experience, I realized that students need courses in other country.
In
conclusion, I firmly believe that university students should be required to
take a least on class that teaches the culture of a country other. All things
considered, it is my belief that my argument regarding this topic has been
effectively and precisely delivered with reasons mentioned above. Never should
we forget that this issue may have a huge impact on our future.
