Almost all people are in specific groups and organizations voluntarily or involuntarily because of their jobs, and duties. I think groups and organizations can influence people’s lives dramatically. I will explain this by giving two aspects.
First of all, in some groups, people can learn what other thinks and their perspectives. In other words, being a part of organizations can be the way that people make their own values and broaden their viewpoint on the world. My example is suitable for this. When I was in high school, to improve my communication skills, I decided to join a debating club. In there, not only was each student able to speak about what they think about societal issues or something, but also did they give some feedback to each student. By doing so, I could expand my perspective on society. For example, one day, the members spoke about the pollution in our society. Before that, I never considered it as a big trouble, so I was surprised when I was told that it is a serious problem. Since then, I became interested in environmental issues, and tried to finding solutions to reduce pollution. If I had no joined the club, I would have never thought about our societal problems and broaden my point of view on society.
Second of all, people are taught to think and behave on the right track in groups and organizations. To explain, groups can be a criterion that people adhere to when they act. One of my friends, named Minsu, is a good instance of this. Before Minsu went to an elementary school, he was a bad child. For instance, he used to steal his friends’ belongings, and he did not listen to what his parents said. However, everything got changed when he had entered school. In there, he learned how to behave correctly, and how to make a relationship with his friends. Soon, like other students, Minsu became a good one who did what he had to do. This example shows that one organization can make people’s lives change and improve their behavioral aspects.
Of course, there must be something that people can gain by themselves. However, by being a member of groups, people are able to enrich their quality of life. Therefore, I believe that in this way, groups and organizations are indispensable to people.
