▶ Your Answer : Some people think that
evaluating teacher by other teachers is better than students. However, I
disagree with the idea that teachers are evaluated by other teachers better
than by students for the following two reasons. First, if they cannot assess
their teachers, they will be more stressed. Second, Evaluations from students
provide more clear information on progress teachers’ teaching
ability.
First
of all, students can reduce their stress. What this means is that students are
under a lot of stress and pressure due to this competitiveness of today’s society. If
students do not have rights to evaluate their teacher, students will not
learn in the direction students want, which makes them to get more stress.
Finally, due to the stress, they will not study more efficiently.
Also, their class participation will decrease. Let me bring my personal story
as an example. When I was in high school, we could not assess our
teacher, and he was just evaluated by other teachers. Even after the
evaluation, they didn’t change his teaching style. We
didn’t want the teaching style. Therefore, we got more
stress, and we didn’t take part in his class well. If
we had rights to assess our teacher, we would participate in his class well.
Assessments from
students provide teachers with more solid proof of the progress of
their teaching ability. Without assessments from students, the teacher
would not be able to determine how well they are teaching. Also, other
teachers do not know the teacher’s teaching style well if the teacher
is evaluated by other teachers, they cannot make it possible to know which
areas of their education require more effort. For instance, research conducted
by a professor at the University of JYP clearly shows the importance of
assessment of students as a measurement of the progress of teachers’ teaching skills. She discovered that the assessments are a way for
teachers to communicate with their students about specific information related
to the teacher’s teaching styles. By communication, the teacher
can teach students more efficiently. As a result, assessments from students
motivate the teacher to focus more intently on how to teach students
more efficiently, and give the teacher more accurate information with
respect to students’ increase satisfactions about
teachers’ teaching style.
In conclusion, as
students assess their teachers, they can be less stressful, and teachers can
get more accurate information about the progress of their teaching.
That is, Assessments from students give not only teachers but also students
more advantages. In this regard, I strongly, insist
that the teacher should be evaluated by their students |
