▶ Your Answer :
It is questionable whether the parents these days involve more in
their children’s education compared to the past or not. However, in my opinion,
there is increased involvement in children’s education among parents. The reason why I think like this is there are increased expenditures on their
children’s education and the university entrance applications got more
complicated than the past.
To begin with, parents these days spend more money on their
children’s education. In today's’ education policy, intensified competition
among the students is inevitable. Thus the parents make their children go to
the extra-curricular academies after the school and on the weekends to make
them yield more performances. According to the survey, conducted by the
education ministry of Seoul, the expenditures on the out-school academies are
constantly increasing since 2005 to nowadays. It is a ridiculous result when
you consider the government regulated academies to stop lectures over the
midnight This is reflective of intensified competition in the current education
field and the result is increased spending on the children’s learning.
On top of that, the university entrance applications became more
complexed and diversified than before. The universities these days require
students not only great grades but the other things, such as volunteer works,
club activities, even internship experiences. Eventually, the importance of
acquiring information about the university entrance application grew rapidly
among enthusiastic parents. They search the information through the Internet
and participate in the admission conventions held by the universities or famous
academies. For example, the Trinity college annually asked their students
whether their parents help them in searching for information about the college
or not. The result shows that the respondents who checked ‘yes’ were
continuously increased from the beginning of the survey. This indicates there
is increasing involvement in their children’s education.
To sum up, the increased concerns about children’s education have
resulted in the grown expenditures on education and parents who are arduously
searching for application information on behalf of their children. I think all
these results are caused by intensified competitions on education. In this
regard, I agree with the statement that parents these days care more about
their children’s education than before. |
