▶ Your Answer : I do agree with the statement that, museums are the best source we have when we want to know a country for the two reasons that are direct and indirect respectively. Firstly, in direct way, we can see the history of the country through museum. "Knowing" a country can not be accomplished just by oberving the present. By looking the history, we can make the link between the past and the present for the proper understanding of the country. In this regard, the museum is the most valuable source for us to learn the history. Governments carefully collect and select the most precious and important materials in their country. Adding to that, there materials are displayed in the best way by the curators of the museum. Thus, museums are naturally become the best classrooms for the vistors who want to know about the country. For example, when we go the "national history museum of Korea", we can learn Korean people have fought against numerous foreign invasions and survived by the seeing the swords and guns displayed. Then, we can finally find the ground of Korean society's solidarity and culture that cherishes group activity. Secondly, in indirect way, we can see the priority of a country just by listing the museums. Museums are not something make revenues. Instead, they are maintained by the country to secure the mental value on some specific subjects. In other words, the subject that a museum represent means that, this country highly value this subject beyond economic value. In this way, if we list the museums of a country, the list made will be identical with the priorities that a country wants to keep and maintain. Thus, by seeing the museums, we can detect the hidden mental aspects of the society beyond the superficial surfaces. For Instance, when we visit Japan, we can find various museums regarding weapons like sword and armor. That means, Japanese society has built upon many fights and the identity of society is similar with the warrior. In this way, we can understand why the government of Japan is always sensitive against external threats and why Japanese people cherish the fame and honor among them than other values. In conclusion, I highly recommend to visit museums for the people who want to know about a county. Through touring the museum, they can see the real aspect of the counry in direct and indirect way.
