Usually, youngsters
have much time to entertain themselves than adults. Many people think children
should have the authority to determine which activity they pursue. They think this
voluntary decision making helps children build a sense of responsibility and planning ability. However, I believe parents must organize their kids’ leisure
time.
To begin with,
children lack the ability to plan systemically. They do not possess the capability of
thorough thinking required to schedule. They are vulnerable to indulging in
something that affects them negatively. Children are not wise enough to tell what
is harmful to them. For example, one of my cousins enjoyed playing a smartphone
game. He wanted to play it whenever he got free time even if it was short. When he left his phone at home or the battery was gone, he tried to get someone’s
phone nearby. The indulgence was killing the boy’s youth slowly. The circumstance
is so severe that his parents recognized the problem and decided to mend it. They
took him to the counselor and began to handle him. They regulated the time he
uses the smartphone and forced to do other things to forget about the addictive
game. Although it took a long time to fix his addiction completely, now he is no more
suffering from his indulgence thanks to his parents’ supervising.
On top of that,
parents can pay attention to their children. If children are permitted to do whatever
they want, there is no role for parents and their care for children would be
diminished. It is essential to sustain a close, keen relationship between
parents and kids. By planning where to use children’s free time, they could
feel connected with their youngsters. As the responsibility for their children
increases, they spend more time and effort to make a complete schedule for children.
Also, children would learn which activity should be considered more
significant and likely to make more achievable planner later.
To sum up, with parents’
help in planning leisure time of children, both parents and children could
benefit largely. In this regard, I firmly contend that parents should plan their
children’s leisure time thoughtfully. |
