Looking around a street, we can readily find everybody holding a smartphone in his or her hands. As this clearly reveals, the internet has become popular with among people. Of course, we have to admit that it has provoked some adverse effects on people. However, I strongly hold the opinion that the worldwide use of the internet largely has benefits on for people's lives for the subsequent reasons.
To begin with, people can find others who are far from them and correspond with them via the internet. In other words, the internet has made it possible for people to overcome the limitation of space. Nowadays, through smartphones and tablets, people can see others who live on at the opposite side of the Earth and talk with them without any discomfort. To give you an idea, let me bring up my personal experience as an example. When I was in middle school, I was close to my English teacher, Karen. She was from Canada and moved back to her country after my graduation. Recently, while browsing the Facebook app, I found Karen's account incidentally and finally got in touch with her. Using the Skype app, I was able to see her and caught up with plenty of news of hers. If the apps and the internet had not existed, I would never have been able to see my teacher again after those years.
On top of that, the internet provides everyone with an equal chance to get abundant useful information. In the past, the distribution of information was biased. Some people possessed a lot of essential information whereas others rarely had it. As a result, accidents which could be evaded with information frequently happened to some poor people. For instance, a novel coronavirus-19 has been rigorously carried out in South Korea for several months and numerous people infected with this virus have died. To prevent the spread of the disease, the government posted the movements of the patients on its official website, the number of the infected, and the ways to prevent the infection. With the disclosed information, people have tried not to go to the places where the patients stayed and coped with this pandemic crisis wisely. At last, thanks to the information opened to everyone through the internet, all Koreans were able to defeat the epidemic well without being too anxious.
In conclusion, it is my unwavering conviction that the fact that all people can utilize the internet has generally brought many advantages to people. People are not only able to communicate with other people in distance, but also able to access necessary information equally which was only given to few selected people in the old time. |
