▶ Topic : Children should have art and music as mandatory school subjects along with math, history, science, and language. |

▶ Your Answer :
Some people might think that children should
not be forced to learn art and music while other do not. Both sides have own reasons
to support their views. If I were asked to choose one, I would say that children
should take classes such as art and music along with math, history, science,
and language. The reason is that taking art and music classes helps (주어 동사 불일치 / 주어 taking 단수) children to
foster creativity and relieve their stress.
To begin with, taking art and music
classes provide children to relieve their stress. This is because students can
take breaks from more intensive classes required to be memorized of facts that have
been taught during classes. In effect, art and music classes are a chance for children
to recharge their mental batteries. Let me illustrate my personal experience as
an example. When I was a high school student, I had lots of pressure from math,
history classes because I was not good at memorization facts. Although I constantly
put my effort to remember contents of intensive classes, I did not have
positive results. Fortunately, I was able to deal with this problem by taking
art and music classes. Paintings and listening to music encourage students to
share their feeling with other students instead of memorizing certain facts. As
I played various musical instruments and as I sang with my classmates, the
stress from my other classes would just melt away. Without taking art and music
classes, I would not have relieved my stress during my high school period.
Apart from the first reason, art and
music classes makes children to foster their creativity. Unlike math or history
classes, art and music classes have no explicit rules and standards for making
their outcomes. It gives students opportunities to express themselves in more
creative ways. The professor, John, an expert in children education, spent
years studying how taking art and music classes affects students. He came
up with the result that students who take art and/or music classes can
improve their creativity rather than students who taking only intensive
classes. Further research from a team of professors from Michigan University
also supports the idea that paintings or playing instruments enable children to
reinforce their creativity whenever they express themselves to other people.
All in all, from what I discussed above, taking
art and music classes should be mandatory for children along with math, history,
science, and language.
