Some
might say it is important to support medical technologies rather than public
transportation. However, I believe it is more crucial for government to invest
in improving public transportation rather than developing medical technologies.
First, it is really needed for people’s better lives. Second, investing in
medical industry wastes a lot of resources and time.
To begin with, development of public
transportation improves the quality of people’s lives. If the public
transportation extends to main points of region, it will reduce much time
caused by moving place to place and people can use the time for sleeping or
having meals with family. For example, 5 years ago, I used to ride a bus to go from
my house to Pu-kyeong university and it took two hours to arrive there. It was
a main reason why I always lacked sleeping time. However, now, after the
development of subway and bus in Busan, I realized that the time for moving far
decreases and I can use the time for sleeping. It results good feelings and higher
productivity and changes my life.
On top of that, a
significant amount of medical investment waste resources and time. Many newly
developed medical technologies are not adapted. Even if the technologies are
adapted, considerable number of medicines and treatments are too expensive to
be used in ordinary homes. For instance, over 10 years, many countries have
tried to solve Alzheimer’s disease problem and made a large sum of investment.
But, until now, there is no fundamentally method to cure the disease and some
helpful treatments for delaying the disease are so expensive that most people can’t
use it.
To
sum up, the public transportation positively influences on people’s lives and
the support for medical technologies has to risk waste of money and time. In
this regard, I think that governments should use money for growing public transportation
rather than medical industry.
