Many people believe that people are putting too much emphasis on their appearance and fashion recently. However, as I look at it, it's not quite true. This is because look is just as important as before and putting on right clothes or hairstyle or even makeup in right time could bring you success. To begin with, appearance and fashion have always been important from the past. So accusing modern people for emphasizing them too much doesn't stand to reason. For example, a doctor wears white, spick-and-span clothes for the purpose of sanitation. Anyone could possibly see if anything dirty is on the doctor's clothes, which prevents patients from getting infected. If a doctor didn't wear opportune costume for his or her job, patients wouldn't easily trust the hospital, not to mention its sanitation. In addition to that, with their clothes on, patients can tell who's the doctor and who's the nurse. This has been a custom from the olden days. No one say people in medical field should wear comfortable clothing. On top of that, opportune looks can help you to lead your career smoothly. We tent to evaluate others by outward characteristics. For instance, if a bodyguard is not wearing a suit when protecting a VIP, people could think that the security is loose and something dangerous could happen. People around the VIP are overwhelmed by the bodyguards in suits, sunglasses and even radio, which in return deters bad situations from happening. How about a lawyer? You're about to litigate and the lawyer you're consulting is wearing flood pants or a dirty tie. Can you depend on the lawyer for your lawsuit? I'd look for another attorney who seems to look smart and sharp. To sum up, appearance and fashion have been important as means of social standing from the past and they can be of help to success. In this regard, I firmly hold that people can't be too caring about their appearance and fashion in this society. |
