▶ Your Answer : Some people think that movies cannot tell a
lot about a country since movies are just movies. However, in my opinion, movies
can tell a lot about one country. The reasons are that there are country’s real
lives which give indirect experiences in movies and movies imply the country’s social
aspects.
Firstly, people can attain indirect experiences
by watching movies and these experiences can reveal a lot about the country. I believe
experience is one of the most essential factors of success in this world. Imagine
people only have textbook knowledge. Their views will be so narrow. To be
specific, by watching the country’s movies, they can not only gain diverse
experiences but also broaden their horizon of the world. For example, when I traveled
to Europe alone last year, I visited Paris during backpack trip. I visited many
museums, churches, bridges and cafes. Most of those places were what I already
knew because I saw them in one movie, Midnight in Paris. In Midnight in Paris, one
man lives in Paris, visit many places I mentioned above, and enchant the beauty
of Paris. Through Midnight in Paris, I already knew a lot about Paris, and it
made my travel much meaningful.
Next, movies can reveal one country’s social
aspects. Therefore, people are often impressed by the implicit meaning of the
movie. Movies are intrinsically the mirror of the society in which films are
made. They often provoke people’s anger about the society’s injustice or inequality.
The famous Korean movie ‘Parasite’ is a good example. This movie attracted global
attention since it took many trophies of all over the world’s movie awards.
Parasite are highly evaluated by its movie scenes which show dark aspects of Korean
society. Injustice, inequality, and immorality were shown in intentionally described
movie scenes. Many Koreans say that it shows dark side of Korea very precisely.
To sum up, movies can allow people gain indirect
experiences which can be useful during real life in that country. Moreover,
movies involve real aspects of the society. In this regard, I firmly believe
that movies are good tools to understand one country. |
