▶ Your Answer : Undoubtedly,
group work plays a significant role in people`s daily lives in many of the
places where they work or play. Some people think that team members should get
the same grade, while others do not. Both sides may have their own reasons to
support their views. If I were asked to choose one, I would say that group
members who do group activity should receive the different grade. There are
several reasons as follows. To
begin with, when students with group work get the different grade, it will help
them cultivate important qualities needed for success. Getting the different
grade in group work requires students to be diligent, passionate and
self-disciplined. When these personal traits are developed, it is likely to
bring a better result in school. For example, my youngest brother did poorly in
high school. He got distracted easily, procrastinated, and acted on impulse.
However, he has changed little by little after he began to group work in his
literature class. In the class, a teacher told her class that she gave them
different grade in a team. After that, he tried to participate in the group
activity hardly. In the end, he got good grade in this class. He realized that
his active participation helped him work well with others, while his laziness
could negatively affect everyone. Thanks to his active participation, he
started to maintain a good behavior by raising his grades in school. He showed
characteristics of a longer attention span, a stronger passion in his tasks and
a better ability to delay gratification. He was able to excel all throughout
high school and received straight A`s in his classes. Without this experience,
he would have fallen behind. In
addition, getting the same grade for students` group work allows students not
to improve their sense of responsibility. If students receive same grade in
their team project, they could do free riding. It is likely to reduce the
importance of being responsible. For instance, my youngest sister used to be active,
diligent, and passionate. However, she has changed little by little after he
started taking society class where students received same grade for their group
project. She realized that she did not need to try to participate in the
project. This was because although she participated in the team project
actively, she should receive same grade with other team members who did not
participate in that. Naturally, she did not become prompt with time, and played
her part better. If she had received different grade in her class, she would have
participated in the project hardly.
All
things considered, I strongly believe that students who have team projects should
receive different grade in a team for the reasons I have mentioned above. All
in all, the importance of receiving reward cannot be overestimated in the
pursuit of success in life. |
