Some people might say that families do not
necessarily have to eat meals together. Since almost people in this society are
busy these days, they have trouble to make arrangement for meals. However, I believe
that there are several advantages of having meals together. First, family
members can have the time for giving solutions about family member’s problem.
Second, by having meals together, they can learn cooperation from each other.
To begin with, they can give solutions
about others’ problem by having conversation time at meal times. To be
specific, usually, people talk a lot each other at meal times. Conversation is
a key of relationship of people. They can understand the other’s situation and
are willing to help the family member. By this process, they can sustain the
busy life and get rid of stress. For example, I take my personal
experience. When I was a freshman, I struggled with my school life. It was
different with the high school life, I had a trouble about relationship with my
peers. I talked this problem at family meal time and my parents and brother
gave the useful advices for this situation. They strongly believed that I would
solve the problem. By this, I could get confidence for human relationship. So, people can talk to their family about their
worries and get advice from them before anybody else.
On top of that, people can learn cooperation
by family meal time. To have a meal, we should prepare the foods, dishes and
other things. Also, after eating, we must clean up dishes. By this all
processes, we can learn how to cooperation with others. If one did not aid
these processes, the other family member will be harder because he or she
should do the rest things of work. For instance, there was a survey conducted
by a group of education majors, with 200 university students as respondents.
The purpose of the survey was to understand their thought about relationship
between family meal time and possibility of learning cooperation. A majority of
respondents replied that eating meals with family can help to develop
cooperation. An overwhelming 70% responded that they want to get more time to
eat dinner with their family. This survey proves that family meal time is important
to build the cooperation.
To sum up, family members can resolve the personal
problems by eating meals together. Also, they can learn the importance of
cooperation. In this regard, I firmly believe that eating meals together has a
great effect on family relationship.
