▶ Your Answer :
Some people might say that economic growth
is the most important factor for country. But I personally believe that it is
not acceptable for the government to neglect environment concerns to promote
economic growth. There are following two subsequent reasons.
To begin with, if the environment is
destructed, the government cannot protect the endangered species. For example,
when I was in elementary school, my country destroyed the mountain that people
used to visit for healing their mind. That mountain had several species of
animals and plants. Especially, some bears lived there. After destruction and
making new buildings, we cannot see the bears anymore. Some years later, many
people regretted the last decision about redevelopment, but, they could not get
or save the bears because it was too late. This is tragedy for the country and
for the next generation also. Economic growth cannot save the lives of endangered
species.
On top of that, the environment should be
protected for people’s satisfaction with their life. To be specific, the
environment should never come second place. Once the environment is destroyed,
it cannot be recovered. If we think about the next generation to come, we must
do everything we can to protect the environment. For example, there was a
survey conducted by ministry of environment, with 200 university students as
respondents. The purpose of the survey was to understand their thought about
the relationship between the environment and the development. A majority of
respondents replied that the government should keep the balance of these. An
overwhelming 70% responded that we should take the concern about aggressive
destroying. This survey proves that many people have the mind that they need
good environmental conditions like the forests or the mountain.
To sum up, neglecting environment is not
helpful for the country’s long term development. We should keep the endangered
species. Moreover, protecting environment is related to quality of our lives.
In this regard, the government must consider the environment problems as much
as the development issues.
