First of all, the writer of the reading passage states that a true statement cannot be misjudged as lies. Contrary to the conventional one which detects lies based on the person’s anxiety, the new one distinguishes it according to the increasing and decreasing activities of the specific brain part, so this level of the premise cannot affect the judgement. However, the professor of the lecture reputes this argument as it can misjudge the honest one. According to her statement, brain uses the same part when storing the information and lying on others.
Furthermore, an innocent suspect can be pointed out as a criminal when they are asked some embarrassing questions due to the human tendency that they want to avoid question they do not want to answer. Since people have blur memories and choose what can they reveal as an answer or not, it can be also misjudged as a lie.
She also asserts that the new way to distinguish the false and true statement can be misjudged by expert’s bias. The author of the reading passage postulates that this new way prevents conductors to misjudge because it shows suspect’s brain activity in a picture. In spite of that, she pointed out that this picture does not shows clear conclusion since the brain uses various sector for one propose. It means that experts are still needed to analyze the picture, so odds of misjudging are still existing.
For the last, she condemns that this new method is still easier to trick. In the reading passage, the author of the lecture maintains that there is less or no chances to misunderstood since the way which used to pool the old way does not work on the new one. However, the lecturer of the listening passage pointed out that there are several ways to trick the test. For example, the suspect pools the test by solving a complex mathematical problem or listen the statement that is not true. This makes brain confused so that the test could not distinguish the truth of false statement.
