Some people might that say parents do not need to set rigid rules for their child. However, in my opinion, parents should guide their children by setting rules and regulations.
To begin with, parents can prevent their children from being deviated by setting rules. Sometimes children are not mature enough to evaluate what is right or what is wrong. For example, one of my friends used to play game all night and did not sleep until 4AM. His parents just let him do what he wants to do, instead of regulating and guiding him. Since he was indulged in such a lifestyle, he could not focus on school. When he had to study or prepare for his future, he did not make any effort other than games. By letting children what they want to do, children might waste their valuable time that can be invested in something that can lead to success.
On top of that, children can work or study more with parents' supervision. Usually parents went through similar phase in life so they have more knowledge and experience that can help their children to success. For instance, I had some problems with math class when I was in middl school. At that time, I was good at other subject but math was so difficult to me. I almost thought about giving up. However, my mom persuade me not to give up and explained how she overcame similar problems. Also she set some rules about study time. She knew that I did not invest enough time for math course so she decided to set schedule for me. It was hard to follow at first, but after I followed her recommendation, my math score got improved.
To sum up, parents should set rules to guide kids into desirable situation and to teach them how to work or study more. In this regard, I think parents should set regulations and rules for their kids at some degree since it can help them to grow and success.
