▶ Your Answer : Undoubtedly, time of independence plays a significant role in young adults’ daily lives in many of the places where they work or play. Some people think that young adults should live with their families for a long time, while others do not. Both sides may have their own reasons to support their views. If I had to choose one, I would say that young adults should be independent from their parents as soon as possible. There are several reasons as follows. To begin with, if young adults became independent from their family early, they would improve their sense of responsibility. Living without parents’ help requires many obligations such as managing time, abiding by rules, and being diligent. When such obligations are fulfilled, they are likely to realize the importance of being responsible. For example, my youngest brother was lazy and selfish. He has changed little by little after he started to live by himself. After a month from his leaving, he got food poisoning because he didn’t throw away food waste from his refrigerator and accidently ate it. After spending a month in the hospital, he decided to be responsible. He realized that his laziness could negatively affect his physical condition, while his punctuality could help him improve his health. Without this experience, he would still have been irresponsible. In addition, when young adults do something by themselves, they can feel a greater sense of achievement. It gives them a chance to do everything on their own such as cooking, doing laundry, and cleaning. It would be difficult to do it by themselves at first, but after they made it they feel rewarded and fulfilled. A fulfilling experience tends to prevent them from feeling depressed in life. For example, when my sister was in high school, she often felt depressed thinking that her life became an exhausting routine. To survive in a competitive world she spent the whole day studying all academic subjects, hoping that she could outdo others. Although she made constant effort, she cannot be confident about herself. She always thought that she was just following the curriculum, not achieved something by herself. However, after graduation from high school, she had to live alone and was able to make her life more meaningful by doing everything by herself. She felt happier after doing household chores. My family was very proud of her independence and these achievements allowed her to be confident, optimistic and strong. All things considered, I strongly believe that young adults should be independent from their family as soon as possible for the reasons I have mentioned above. In this regard, the importance of early independence of young adults cannot be overestimated in life. |
