▶ Your Answer :
The issue here is whether giving the same
grade to all members of a group is a good way to evaluate students who work on
projects together in high schools and universities or not. I believe that it is
not a good way for the following two reasons.
To begin with, it is very unfair. There are
two types of students who engaging in projects : who processes it doing his or
her best, and who does not his or her best for the projects. For example, when
I was eighteen years old, I had a project about literature with three members
of a group. There were two guys who did not participate enthusiastically for
the project, however, they got A with me. This made me feel very unfair.
On top of that, it is hard to evaluate
individual students because they got same grade if they are in a same group.
This will confuse teachers and professors , and it will also affect on granting
scholarship for certain students. For instance, one of my friends, Jack , did
his best studying and participating in group assignment when he was in Seoul
National University. He thought he will definitely take scholarship from the
college, however, he missed it because another student in his group, took it
because he did a bit well in his GPA, although if he had did assignment alone,
he would have failed to get it, not Jack. This shows that it can be a critic
parts to evaluate each students.
To conclude, I believe that my standpoints
of the two reasons are sufficiently convincing. The first is that it is very
unfair, and second is that it disturb processes to evaluate each students in
objective perspective. In this regard, I think it is not a good way to give the
same grade to all members of a group.
