with progressive societal advancement, it is true that students are aided by
their teachers. However, recently, there is an intensive divisive issue as to whether
it is always better to study with a teacher or not. Some might support that it
is always better to study with a teacher than alone. One must not be
short-sighted and must consider the other side of the coin. According to my
rationale, it is not always better to study with a teacher then it is to study alone.
With intensive consideration, numerous rationalities will be scrutinized in
order to support the claim. First
of all, the most prominent reason must be that studying with teacher sometimes disturb
own thinking of students. When teachers give all the details and interpretations,
students are not able to think by themselves and they are not allowed to consider
about the details or interpretations. Most of the literature class in South
Korea might serve as a good example to support the claim. Almost all the
classes there is composed of one professor and more than twenty students for 50
minutes. As the given time is too short to do lots of things, it is almost impossible
for teachers to let students think about the meaning of the poetry's vocabulary
or the behavior of the character in novel. One of my Korean friends stated that
she felt so depressed while listening to the literature class. There was no
time to think about the specific meaning of the poetry and teachers always
interpreted them. She claimed that she had not have an opportunity to think by herself
and it really limits their own thinking.
Another
rationale which should be mentioned is that when students study alone, they can
learn how to do things alone in the future. When teachers help all the study
materials, they are not able to study alone and this habit goes forever which
means that they will need to get help even when they grow up to work as a member
of the company. My brother and sister might serve as a great example. My
brother, who had studied alone with a little bit of help from his teachers, knew
how to solve the problems by himself. As he always found solutions alone, he got
used to it. His habit of finding the solution by himself greatly helped him
when he became a member of the company. He knew how to solve the problem without
help. However, my sister always got help from her teachers and she was not able
to finish her work without helpers. When she entered the company, she was not able
to do her work alone because she had never done that before.
Founded on the abovementioned reasoning, it
seems undeniable that it is not always better to study with a teacher then it
is to study alone. Those two reasons are compelling enough to support the claim;
it can help students to do their works by themselves in the future and studying
with teacher limits the thinking of students. Thus, nothing in my mind regarding
this issue overweighs the idea stated above. |
