Many people search
for more money and fame constantly. They are never content with what they have,
holding the faith that the more they have, the more quality life would come. Sometimes
it could be a stimulus that encourages them when they are exhausted. However, I
believe that people should learn that what they possess is enough to make them
happy.
To begin with, man’s
urge for something new is indefinite. They are no guidelines for helping people build
a detailed plan. A person who pursues his endless greed would destroy himself
with the unsaturated gratification because one’s satisfaction is a matter of
subjectiveness. The famous myth about the king who had golden hands might be the best example. The king was rich, but he wanted more precious materials, such as
golds. He prayed to God to give him enormous wealth. Eventually, he got an ability
by which objects he touches are transformed into golds immediately. With full
expectations, he called his daughter to show his precious ability. When he hugged
his beautiful child to express the touching moment, she lost her life becoming
a golden statue. This fictitious story has well revealed what is prepared for people
who are not satisfying with their current status.
On top of that, a
person pursuing the new goal relentlessly would feel he is miserable. During
the process of finding something new, the base premise of his conclusion he
is not in the ideal condition at the moment would distress him painfully. He
probably begins to accept the goal as his duty, not an exciting adventure. This
makes him feel more miserable than he actually is. The vicious cycle would
repeat itself until the man stops his meaningless exploration and changes his
mindset to conform to his present condition.
To sum up, focusing
on what you do not possess would negatively affect you practically and
psychologically. In this regard, I firmly assure that people should be content
with what they have. |
