▶ Your Answer :Undoubtedly, a better skill plays a significant role in people’s daily lives in many of the place where they work or play. If parents want their child to become a better skill, some people think that the best way for this is that parents should require a set of amounts of practicing including how many hours or how many minutes, while others think that it is that they encourage their child to decide on the amount of time and practice as much as they wish. Both sides may have their own reasons to support their views. If I were asked to choose one, I would say that to become a better skill, children can benefit from parents’ requirement about the amount of time and practicing. There is reason as follows. To begin with, when parents decide the amount of time and practicing for their child, their child can improve his or her skill efficiently. Since a child is immature, he or she is not able to judge his or her level of skill accurately. On the other hand, parents have lived a long time, so they have broader views on matter such as how to succeed. Moreover, they are well aware of their child’s attribute because they always look after him or her. When parents require their child with appropriate amount of practicing time to his or her own characteristic, it is likely to bring a better result in the child’s life. For example, Tokyo University found a huge difference between young adults in the piano performance. One group consisted of those who had practiced the piano 3 hours every day as their parents required them since they were 7-year old, and the other group was made up of those who had never been requested about the amount of time of practicing by their parents. The researchers found that the former was more likely to have more accomplishments in their field than the latter. In particular, many of the first group won a lot of music competitions, showing a stronger passion in music, an ability to manage their time, and personalities to be self-disciplined. However, the second group tended to get distracted easily, procrastinate, and act on impulse. This implies that getting parents’ decision about practicing from an early-age is the key to success. Without parents’ helping, one would fall behind. All things considered, I strongly believe that the advantages of parent’s requirement far outweigh those of child’s free decision for the reason I have mentioned above. All in all, the importance of parents’ helping cannot be overestimated in pursuit of happiness. |
