Some people advocate that teachers should not have any right to punish students physically. On the other hand, in my opinion, it is reasonable for teachers to have a right to punish students physically for the following reasons: punishing physically to students can lead them on the morally right track, and can improve the friendship among students.
To begin with, teachers can lead students on the morally right way. The reason is that they are not mature yet, therefore, they are likely to behave immorally if they are not physically punished. A really good example is one of my friends, James. When he was in high school, he used to smoke and drink secretly to avoid teachers' oversight. One day he was caught by one of the teachers while smoking behind the school yard. Luckily, the teacher did not punished him physically and just persuaded him to quit smoking due to its unhealthy chemical components. Nevertheless these kind advice, he did not understand what he did wrong and caused more problems such as fighting and sexual harassment.
On top of that, punishing physically also helps students to improve their friendship. It is common to see an outcast in school nowadays. The problem is that they do not stop bullying other students even though students already know bullying someone is bad. However, it could be reduced if teachers punished them physically and strictly. My uncle's own experience can demonstrate my point clearly, he used to be bullied by some students when he was in middle school. And It was becoming harsher than he thought it would be. Therefore, he asked to his teacher to help him. The teacher made them to gather in front of a classroom and hit their butts more than 5 times in a row. In addition, he also noticed them bullying is a bad thing again. Thanks to the teacher, they apologized to my uncle that being so harsh on him. Finally, they became good friends.
To sum up, punishing students physically by teachers are necessary because it can lead them to be moral and can boost their friendship in a way. In this regard, the statements that I made above cannot be underestimated. |
