▶ Your Answer :
There might be some people that believe it is not important to understand the past to solve the problems of the present and future, while others disagree with the above idea. Both camps have their own reasons to support their perspectives. If I had to choose one, I would say that people should understand the past to resolve the problems of the present and future. There are several reasons and examples as follows.
To begin with, understanding past enables people to save their time when they solve the problems of the present and future. This is because similar problems can develop over and over. Then they could find the solution more quickly when they know about the past. Let me give a personal experience to explain this thought more clearly. A few months ago, my friend, Jenny had an car accident which crashed with one car on the street. Her right leg was broken, so she had to stay in a hospital for a month. However, she recovered in a short time than other patients since she had the same experience. She knew about how to rehabilitate her broken leg due to the experience in the past. To make a long story short, if she had not learned from her experience, she could have not recovered faster than other patients.
On top of that, some companies can get financial advantages when they study the past to fix some challenges of the present and future. They can estimate the upcoming market issue due to the fact that financial current has a flow. They learn about economic issue, which as a result, this can helpful to solve the current problems. According to the article written by one famous economist in the US that I have read recently, it suggests that giant companies' CEO preferred to refer to previous material when they have to make a final decision for the future. In addition, it is suggested that it can help to upgrade their business in a complex market situation and reduce the risks of failure. This example demonstrates the significance of the understanding the past events.
In sum up, I strongly believe that it is required that people understand the past to get through the challenges of the present and future given the fact that its advantages far outweigh its disadvantages. In this regard, the importance of my perspective cannot be underestimated for the reasons I have mentioned above. |
