There might be some people who believe that employees should be hired by their employers for life. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for two subsequent reasons. First, it can make employees lazy. Second, it can narrow the potential possibilities of employees.
To begin with, the efficiency of employees can decrease. This is due to the fact that they do not have to worry about their positions. If they are hired by their employers for life, it is impossible for employers to dismiss employees, even though they do not work hard or inappropriately. Therefore, the overall efficiency and concentration of employees can drop. If they can be removed anytime, they will do as much as possible to retain their jobs. Let me bring up my uncle’s story as an example. His workplace guaranteed the status of employees for life, so at first, they were really satisfied with it because they did not have to worry about losing a job and trying to get it again. However, day after day, he realized that the entire atmosphere of the office became not only loose but also lazy, which clearly shows that stability is not always the best factor for companies.
On top of that, the potential possibilities of employees can be narrowed. In general, people have a tendency to settle down if they reach a certain stable position, though they have more opportunities and possibilities to leave their comfort zones. This is because it is hard for employees to find practical reasons to leave these situations. On the contrary, if companies will not guarantee job positions for life, they have to think about going out of their boundaries voluntarily or not voluntarily. For instance, one employee of my uncle’s company had a lot of possibilities to deal with various tasks. One day, he heard that she was cast by another company, but she rejected it, so he asked the reason because that company was one of the best. Surprisingly, she answered that she was satisfied to do the same work here. He added that what she stressed was that she could not find any reason to break this stability.
In conclusion, employers can experience a drop of efficiency and employees can lose their possibilities in combination with lifetime guarantees. In this regard, I personally think that employees should not be hired by their employers for life. |
