▶ Your Answer :
There might be some people who believe that prizes and awards do not fulfill a worthwhile purpose related to recognizing excellence. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for two subsequent reasons. First, without prizes and awards, people cannot realize excellence. Second, during preparing a certain contest or test, people can be more trained.
To begin with, prizes and awards can prove people’s excellence. In general, people cannot be aware of other’s excellence without their prizes and awards because there is no other indication of this. If one person claims that he is excellent without proving the results, people would not trust his capability. Let me bring up my personal story as an example. When I was an elementary student, my friend Suzy said that she had a talent at drawing. However, I did not believe her words because there were no results to prove this. One day, my school held a drawing contest, and I first saw how she drew something, and she got the first prize. By that time, I could acknowledge the excellence of her drawing. Without the prize, I would never have realized the truth related to her talents.
On top of that, excellence can be achieved during preparing contest or tests. This is due to the fact that in combination with these procedures, people can be more trained and be close to excellence. Generally, excellence means there is almost no mistakes and parts needed to be modified. In addition, to get prizes and awards, people should not make any mistakes and have content that does not know. Therefore, the way to get prizes and awards is not different from being excellent. For instance, my friend Suzy later told me that she always practiced drawing whenever she could do. Also, she added that before the day of the contest, she repeated to draw what she had done before. To get the prize, even she was young, she did her best, which made her fulfill the purpose. Through these procedures, she could not only have more chances to think about how to draw, but also be much better at drawing without mistakes. This clearly shows that getting prizes and awards is close to being excellent.
In conclusion, prizes and awards can verify one’s excellence at something and people can be excellent while preparing contests. In this regard, I personally think that prizes and awards fulfill a worthwhile purpose. |
