Undoubtedly, the policy direction of governments has a significant impact on their society. Especially, the decisions of the governments whether maintaining terrestrial objects to solidify human's life basement or developing the advanced technology that can be utilized in exploring unveiled space have affected their citizens' mundane routine. Some people may think that spending much money in upgrading the technology that is essential to probe universe will result in an outstanding quality of life because a lot of contemporary electric devices and programs, which are beneficial for people, were derived from the subsidiaries of inventing of a rocket and a satellite, therefore the government should allocate more their budget to them. (전체적으로 문장이 필요 이상으로 너무 깁니다.) However, my opinion contradicts their view totally. First, solving imminent perils in terms of the environment should be a priority. In addition, space exploration is not an area where the budget of the governments can be compensated for even if it invests infinitely. Lastly, it is wise to create basic welfare conditions for people rather than betting on unclear outcomes.
To begin with, although investment in such areas as space exploration has let led to technological advances, it is even more important that human life is now threatened by technological advances. At the same time that tremendous technological advances have been made since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the Earth's environment has also deteriorated rapidly, including the destruction of the ozone layer and aberrant weather caused by global warming. Those occurrences are threating mankind survival. In France, for example, it had remained around 30 centigrades on average, but there have recently been directly affected by rapid climate change and its temperatures rose to about 45 centigrades. The current environmental situation is getting worse as the development pace of developing countries(China, India, and so on) surges, therefore it is right for governments to invest in places that solve the problem even for the sake of human survival than obscure investment destinations.
Most of all, it is unclear whether the investment can be recouped in cases like space exploration. Even if the governments invest a deluge of money, it is easy to get interrupted by small errors in the program or small impurities in the refueling pipe. Also, more capital investment is likely to lead to our own complacency and waste of money, as the information we are able to get from the rocket is only a step toward the uncovered area. In addition, almost the information needed for weather forecasting and human life can be covered to somewhat extent by current technology.
Finally, if governments have the extra resources available now, it is right to utilize them to help people in need first. It cannot be said that it is morally right for people today to suffer for future development. For example, there are a lot of homeless people in any country in the world. While there are people who want to launch rockets with advanced technology and go out into the wider world, there are also people who live on the streets or on the subway. Developing realistic policies and providing support programs for them would allow them to come back from their current terrible daily lives and return to normal lives. It should be chosen as the governments' priority investment because it will show the tangible results in a short time compared to space exploration and also raise the standard of living in cities.
All things considered, I firmly believe that the advantages of investing in the basic parts of human survival can overwhelm the advantages of investing in space exploration. Advances in technology are important, but human life is more valuable.
