Some people think that students will prefer
the course with a professor who has (주어 동사 불일치) outstanding awards in their fields since
they are likely to provide information of high quality. In my opinion, however,
I never agree with the above idea. There are two major reasons.
To
begin with, it is clear that students need the professors who can teach them effectively
or make them have interest in the subject of a class. In this sense, most
famous professors have ability to do that and this is what makes the professor
gain prestige for the class. In the other hand, there are lots of professors
who have significant research or papers but do not know how to teach students
properly. I give my experience as an example. When I was a freshman, I took a
class with a professor who was well known for one of the Nobel-prize candidates
in biological science. The class was really disappointing due to the fact that
he seemed to me that he just reads the textbook slowly without additional
explanation (품사 -> 명사). I think it was the worst way to teach students and also, thanks to
this experience, I learned (시제 -> 과거 시제) that good achievement does (주어 동사 불일치) not indicate good teaching
ability.
Second, popular classes largely do not have
boring, meaningless tasks which consume my time to do other things such as
studying for the exam. You cannot deny the fact that repetitive and monotonous
assignments are typical features of unpopular classes. My best friend, Tom, has
unfortunate experience of this. He had to take genetics classes with a
professor Kim, since he failed to choose the class of a professor Kang who was
much famous for the genetics class than Kim. He eventually dropped the class as Kim gave
him excessive tasks. This experience indicates that unpopular classes are prone
to have critical drawbacks compared to the famous classes.
To
sum up, it is obvious that there are strong reasons to make the classes popular
and attract students. Moreover, unpopular classes are susceptible to give
students tedious tasks too much. For those reasons, I firmly believe that you
have to take a lecture with a popular professor to enjoy the class.
