Nowadays,
people struggle with many problems ranging from work problem to friends’ conflicts.
In this cold society, the role of family is very important, because they give
endless love and support to each other. Some may think that it is not important
for people to have family meals together regularly, and some may think the
opposite. I agree with the latter. I firmly believe that one should have family
meals regularly. There are several reasons as follows.
Having regular family meals together
is still important in a current society, as it leads to a more meaningful life.
As we are living in a significantly busy and cynical society, it is often hard
to build deep relationships with others. However, having meals with the loved
ones contributes to building a strong relationship with them, and this
relationship can help people feel more fulfilled. For example, when I was in
college, I was very depressed, because I always had to compete with my friends
for the grade. I was never able to build relationships with them, since we
considered each other as rivals. I, however, started to change when I began to visit
my family once a week to have dinner with them. Over the course of our meals,
we shared our concerns. When I told them that I was having a hard time building
relationships with my friends, my family told me that I need to have confidence
in myself in order to not see everyone as my rivals. From their sincere advice,
I truly felt there is someone who cares about me and loves me with all his
heart. As a result, I started to feel that my life is fulfilling and meaningful.
If I did not have regular family meals, I would have not had the opportunity to
talk to them about my worries.
Having dinner with family regularly
is still important in a modern society, because it allows one to not feel
bored. Nowadays, people live a repeated routine, which is going to work and
home every day. Regular family dinner allows one to escape from such routine and
have a new experience. Another reason I was depressed in college was that I
lived a boring and repeated life; I would go to school, library and come back
to my dormitory to sleep. This is all I did for six months, and I really needed
something that can refresh my body and mind. Having a regular family dinner
helped me in a way that I was able to do something exciting and new once a
week. When I went back home to have meals with them, I went to the market with my
mom and cooked with my dad. Having such experience not only helped me in
building relationships with them but also aided in recharging my batteries.
For the reasons stated above, I
strongly support the necessity of having regular family meals. Family meals can
definitely influence one’s life in a positive way. Therefore, such culture must
be continued in today’s society. |
